Who Is Archana Kavi?

Archana Kavi is an Indian film and television actress, YouTuber, and television host. She was brought up and born in New Delhi into a middle-class Malayali family. Her debut film, Neelathaamara (2009), received great appreciation for her natural acting. She later worked in Tamil and Telugu films as well. Archana has also appeared in some TV serials and began working on YouTube.

Early Life

She was born to Jose Kaviyil, a retired journalist, and Rosamma in a Christian family in New Delhi. She is of Kudiyanmala origin in the Kannur district of Kerala. Although she had most of her childhood and schooling in Delhi, she went on to pursue a career in the media and film business later on.

Career

Archana Kavi began her acting career in 2009 with the Malayalam film Neelathaamara, in which she portrayed Kunjimalu, a servant girl who falls in love with her master. She gained a wonderful appreciation for her work, and director Lal Jose heaped praise on her as a naturally gifted actress. She then appeared in Mummy & Me as Jewel, a contemporary teenager, a character who, according to her, was very much akin to India’s real youth. But her following film, Best of Luck, fared poorly at the box office.

She made her debut in Tamil with Aravaan, where she played a tribal girl, and then ventured into Telugu cinema with Backbench Student, where she played a college girl in an affair. Archana subsequently appeared in movies such as Abhiyum Njanum, Honey Bee, Nadodimannan, and Mazhavillinattam Vare. She also appeared in Tamil and Hindi cinema, such as Gnana Kirukkan and Saroja.

Besides performing, Archana has also presented the TV series Sundari Neeyum Sundaran Njaanum on Asianet and was also among the first Malayalam actresses to be present on Twitter. She has done director work too, debuting through the web series Pandaraparambil House at 801 in 2021 and now running a boutique “Chaaya” in Kochi, Kerala.

Education

Archana Kavi was raised in Delhi and studied at St. Xavier’s School. She moved to Ramapuram, Kerala, in 2006 and did her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Mar Augusthinose College. She was diligent in her studies there but also pursued her interest in media and acting.

Family and Affairs

Archana Kavi was married to Abish Mathew, who is a stand-up comedian on 31 October 2015 and they were wedded on 23 January 2016 at Vallarpadam Church in Kerala. The two shared a number of years together but finally decided to get a divorce. In 2021, Archana and Abish requested for a divorce, breaking their marriage. Even with the separation, both have moved on in their professional and personal lives.
