He is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. He is best known for directing action films mainly on social issues. In addition, he has worked in Telugu films and Hindi films. Murugadoss won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for his 2014 Tamil action drama Kaththi. In Bollywood his movie with Aamir Khan Ghajini was the blockbuster during that time. It was the first movie to collect ₹100 Crore Net at the box office. Early life
His native place is Trichy, Tamilnadu. He studied B.A in Bishop Heber College, Trichy during 1987-90. During his college days, he had great affinity towards Tamil films and friends. During his college days, he was active in cultural events, particularly in performing stage mimic shows imitating ‘Kirubanantha Variar’ and famous personalities of the cine field. As a student, he was a calm and humble person but his multiple talents during college days and inter-college cultural competitions was often appreciated by all levels of students and teachers. He was very much attracted to cinemas, he was a cinephile, so he loved to watch movies, which resulted in him becoming the director in future.
Career
In 2003, he contemplated making a film titled Varathan with Vikram in the lead role for producer Oscar Ravichandran, but later moved on to other projects. S. J. Suryah recommended Murugadoss to Ajith Kumar for directing his debut film, Dheena. His next films were Ramana, Ghajini, and Stalin. His fifth film was Ghajini, which was a Hindi remake of his same-titled 2005 film and marked his Bollywood debut. Than in 2012 he directed Vijay in Thuppaki movie was so successful so later the remake was also done in Bollywood. He directed the remake with Akshay Kumar in lead, it was also successful at the box office. His movie Kaththi with Vijay was a blockbuster at the box office, it was very well appreciated by the critics and audiences. He directed Rajnikanth in the movie called Darbar it was hit. Now he is all set to collaborate with megastar Salman Khan for his next Sikandar.

He completed his high school from Government Higher Secondary School. He completed Bachelor of Arts from Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirapalli. He also went to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli.
