Early life
Jay Bhanushali was born in a lower middle-class family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Right from his early childhood days, he wanted to became an actor and work in the entertainment industry.
Career
Jay Bhanushali made his television debut with Kasautii Zindagii Kay, where he played a supporting role. In 2007, he appeared as Varun Bhaskar in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. His career took a major turn when Ekta Kapoor selected him to play the lead role of Neev Shergill in the popular soap Kayamath. The role brought him wide recognition and several awards for his performance.
He won the Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face – Male and the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, along with many other honours. In the same year, he participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 and finished as the second runner-up. In 2008, he took part in Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket and secured sixth place. That year, he also won Nach Baliye 5 with his wife Mahhi Vij and played Anuj in Kairi — Rishta Khatta Meetha. He continued hosting Dance India Dance 4 in 2013.
Jay made his film debut in 2014 with the romantic thriller Hate Story 2, opposite Surveen Chawla. He also appeared as Gyani in Desi Kattey the same year and hosted Dance India Dance Li’l Masters and Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale. In 2015, he acted in Ek Paheli Leela alongside Sunny Leone and Rajneesh Duggal and returned as host for Dance India Dance 5.
In 2016, he participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 7. Although he was eliminated early, he re-entered the show and finished in ninth place. He later hosted The Voice India Kids. In 2017, he hosted Sabse Bada Kalakar.
From 2018 onwards, Bhanushali remained active on television. He hosted Super Dancer and Indian Idol 10 in 2018. In 2019, he appeared in an episode of Kitchen Champion 5 and hosted Superstar Singer. In 2020, he participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi – Made in India and finished sixth. In 2021, he entered Bigg Boss 15 and got evicted on day 55. Since April 2023, Bhanushali has been playing the lead role of Shivendra “Shiv” Barot in Hum Rahe Na Rahe Hum, opposite Tina Datta.

The couple divorced on 4 January 2026 on mutual understanding. There are rumours that Jay Bhanushali is dating Meisha Iyer.
