Who is Shanti Priya?

Shantipriya is an Indian actress and dancer who has worked predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films and television. She made her acting debut in 1987 with the Telugu film “Kaboye Alludu.” Some of her notable works include the Hindi films “Saugandh,” “Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana,” and the TV series “Vishwamitra,” “Aryamaan,” and “Dharavi Bank.” She is the younger sister of actress Bhanupriya and is also trained in classical dance forms like Kuchipudi.

Early life

Shantipriya was born in the village of Rangampeta near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh into a Telugu-speaking family. She has an elder brother Gopikrishana and sister Bhanupriya, who is also an actress. Shantipriya’s family later moved to Chennai, where she took training in Kuchipudi dance from a young age.


Shantipriya made her acting debut in 1987 with the Telugu film “Kaboye Alludu” and the Tamil film “Enga Ooru Pattukaran.” She acted in several Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films through the late 80s and early 90s, including “Saugandh” which marked her Bollywood entry. After a break, she returned to television with shows like “Aryamaan,” “Mata Ki Chowki” and “Dwarkadheesh.” Recently, she played Bonamma in “Dharavi Bank” and is set to star in biopics on “Sarojini Naidu” and a Vetrimaaran film. She has also modeled for designers and is a trained dancer.



Family and Affairs

Shantipriya married actor Siddharth Ray, the grandson of V. Shantaram, in 1992. They had two sons together – Shubham and Shishya. Tragically, Siddharth passed away in 2004 at the age of 40 after suffering a heart attack. Shantipriya has been a widow since then, raising her two sons as a single mother.


Shantipriya has a petite figure standing at around 5’6” tall. She has dark brown eyes, black hair, and a warm and graceful persona befitting her skills as a trained classical dancer.
